Power of Opinions Review

Power of Opinions is a survey site that claims to reward its members for sharing their opinions on a range of topics. We decided to sign up and put the site to the test. In this review, I’ll share my experience with joining Power of Opinions and give you an honest assessment of whether or not it’s worth your time.

Andrew: Andrew is one of our reviewers who’s been with HuginX the longest. With a background in membership support at one of the largest survey companies, Andrew has a lot of inside knowledge of the Market Research industry and has helped us refine our reviewing criteria. When Andrew is not working with reviews, he likes to go hiking with his dog Charlie.

Is Power of Opinions a legit survey site?

Yes, Power of Opinions is a legit survey site that allows users to earn points by completing paid tasks, such as surveys, focus groups, and referrals. The concept is simple: users sign up for free, choose the tasks they want to complete, and earn points that can be redeemed for cash or gift cards. But how does the site’s owner, Atomic Research, make money?

Atomic Research’s business model is based on selling market research data to its clients. Companies are willing to pay for information about their target audience’s preferences, habits, and opinions. By gathering data through surveys and other paid tasks, Power of Opinions is able to provide valuable insights to its clients.

For example, a clothing company may want to know which colours are popular among millennials when shopping for casual wear. Power of Opinions could send out a survey to its users who fall within the company’s target age range and collect data on colour preferences. This information could then be sold to the clothing company, which can use it to inform its marketing strategy.

Another example could be a restaurant chain looking to launch a new menu item. Power of Opinions could recruit users who have visited the restaurant chain in the past six months and ask them to participate in a focus group where they taste and provide feedback on the new menu item. The data collected from this focus group could then be sold to the restaurant chain, helping them make informed decisions about their new menu item launch.

Survey Sites explained in 10 steps

Looking to join a Survey Site? Here are the key steps in the process applicable to most sites:

1. Client requests survey participants

A client requests survey participants for a market research project.

2. A target-group is selected

Based on the profiling information you have provided, a sub-set of panelists will be eligible and selected to participate.

3. Participants are invited

Panelists with qualifying profiles will be invited to participate, usually through email invitation or push notification on mobile.

4. Screening of participants

Upon clicking the invitation link, you'll go through a set of screening questions before you are fully qualified to participate.

5. Participants take the survey

As a participant you'll answer a number of questions. The survey could be about anything from consumer brands and entertainment to healthcare and business topics.

6. Your answers are checked

After you have answered all the questions diligently, you'll get a confirmation if your submission has been approved. You'll sometimes need to wait for a researcher to have gone through your submission before you get a confirmation.

7. Your reward is allocated

After the survey, you'll also get a confirmation on the incentive you have earned. The rewards vary from site to site, but is often based on virtual points or simply a cash amount for each survey.

8. Meeting the redemption threshold

Most survey sites don't allow you to withdraw your reward straight away, but will require you to earn a minimum amount before withdrawing your hard earned reward.

9. Filling out your payment information

If you opt to receive your reward through PayPal or bank transfer, remember that your name and address must also match your profile on the survey site.

10. Redeeming your reward

Once you meet the redemption threshold you can withdraw your reward, which is usually in the form of PayPal credits, bank-transfer, Amazon-vouchers, or other types of gift-cards.

Survey Sites Guide

How much can you make on Power of Opinions?

While Power of Opinions offers a seemingly easy way to earn money by completing surveys and other tasks, the rewards may not be as lucrative as they seem. The site promises rewards in the form of Amazon vouchers, gift cards, and PayPal payments, but earning these rewards can be slow and tedious.

On average, each survey is worth around 45 points, with each point being worth £0.01. This means that users can expect to earn around £0.45 per survey. However, users can only redeem their rewards once they have reached a minimum of £10, which equates to 1000 points.

To put this into perspective, users must complete around 22 surveys just to reach the payment threshold. This can be time-consuming and frustrating, especially considering that some surveys may disqualify users based on their demographics or other factors.

While the rewards may not be significant, some users may still find Power of Opinions to be a worthwhile option for earning extra money in their free time. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the rewards are not immediate, and users will need to invest a significant amount of time and effort into completing surveys in order to see any real payout.

Maximiles offers a variety of earning opportunities, a mobile app, frequent survey invitations, and a join bonus of 600 points when you complete your registration and profile. Additionally, the parent company is an ESOMAR member, which means that it adheres to ethical and professional standards of market research. What are the pros and cons of Power of Opinion?

Power of Opinions offers users a variety of earning opportunities through completing surveys, focus groups, and referrals. The reward system is transparent, with users earning points that can be redeemed for Amazon vouchers, gift cards, and PayPal payments. Additionally, the site covers a wide range of survey topics, giving users the chance to share their opinions on everything from consumer products to social issues. The site also has a clear privacy policy, which is a positive for users concerned about how their personal information is being used.

However, there are also some significant drawbacks to using Power of Opinions. One of the most frustrating aspects of the site is the difficulty of qualifying for surveys. Users may spend time answering profiling questions only to be told that they don’t meet the necessary criteria for a particular survey. This can be a waste of time and effort.

In addition, the compensation for completing surveys is relatively low. With each point worth only £0.01, users must complete a significant number of surveys before they can earn a meaningful payout. This, combined with the difficulty of qualifying for surveys, means that it may take a long time for users to see any real reward for their efforts.

Another downside of using Power of Opinions is the slow support system. If users encounter issues with the site or have questions about their rewards, they may have to wait several days or even weeks for a response from customer support. This can be frustrating and may deter users from continuing to use the site.

Furthermore, the repetitive profiling questions can be tedious and may discourage users from using the site. It’s also worth noting that Power of Opinions often partners with third-party survey sites, which can lead to a confusing and disjointed user experience. This may also raise concerns about how user data is being used and shared across multiple sites.

In conclusion, while Power of Opinions does offer some benefits, such as varied earning opportunities, a transparent reward system, and many different survey topics, the cons outweigh the pros. The difficulty of qualifying for surveys, low compensation, slow support, repetitive profiling questions, and many 3rd party surveys may make the experience of using the site frustrating and time-consuming for users.

Disclosure – How we make money

We built HuginX around our core principles of openness, honesty and transparency. Your trust is of the utmost importance to us, which is why we’ll always be straight-up about how we review sites.

When it comes to running our website, we want to be entirely upfront about how we operate, how we make money, and how we keep the site a free resource for our millions of visitors. We don’t accept payment to provide positive reviews, and providers will never have a say in how we choose the best sites. Our aim is to put you, the reader, first and foremost at all times.

A list of practices we never engage in:

  1. We will never accept money to review a product
  2. We will never accept money to change a product review
  3. We will never accept money to turn a blind eye to an issue or flaw
  4. We will never accept money to bias our research or investigations

So, how do we make money? We receive fees from some of the sites we refer subscribers to. These fees are also known as affiliate commissions. When you click on a link or a button that takes you to a provider’s website such as a survey site, we may receive compensation for having referred a new sign-up.

Referral fees are only negotiated after we’ve fully conducted our review, meaning that money plays no factor in the process. Referral fees do not impact our review ratings and recommendations. The compensation we receive may, however, influence how, where, and in what order products appear in our paid search comparison pages, which are separate from our editorial content. These contain ad listings, and can only be accessed via search engine advertisements.
